Pola founder Issac Tambini pitching for investment on Dragons' Den

Issac Tambini is the founder of natural ice pops brand Pola.

But what is the story behind the business?

Who is Issac Tambini?

Issac Tambini was born in Mapperley, Nottingham in 1996.

Tambini comes from a family of Italian ice cream makers. His great-grandfather sold ice cream from a horse-drawn cart.

Tambini saw a gap in the market for a frozen dessert that used fresh fruit with no concentrates, was free from artificial additives and was 100 per cent vegan.

He founded Pola in 2019 after graduating from university.

He said: “I have always been interested in starting my own business and coupling it with my love for food made complete sense.”

Pola handmakes ice and gelato using fresh fruit and plant-based ingredients.

He has created three ranges of ice pops: Sorbet Pops, ‘Tipsies’ Cocktail Pops and No Added Sugar Pops.

Prices start from £9.99 for Wild Elderflower, Sicilian Lemon, Raspberry, Cola, Passionfruit, and Blackcurrant.

He added: “It took us months of recipe testing in our home kitchen using real fruits and just like that, Pola’s Sorbet & Gelato Poles were born.”

To market his business, Tambini bought an old ice cream cart off eBay, renovated it and started pushing it around Nottingham, selling Poles to passers-by.

He said: “Straight away, customers loved our flavour combinations and the fact we used local fruits & botanicals as ingredients.”

In 2024, Tambini pitched for investment on Dragons’ Den.
