But the American only started her investment firm in 2016, with a rather different career before then.

Who is Lyn Alden Schwartzer?
Lyn Alden Schwartzer, who is often known simply as Lyn Alden, is the owner of a successful financial investment strategy firm and newsletter business.
Born in Atlantic City in the US in 1990, Alden had a difficult upbringing, living in poverty and even suffering from homelessness as one point.
Describing her begins as “humble”, she explained in an interview how her family had no choice but to live in a caravan due to a shortage of income.

“When I lived with my mum we were homeless for a period of time, for a couple of years,” she said.
“Then I lived with my dad and we in trailer parks and we were reasonably comfortable but it was still somewhat of a finical struggle a little bit.”
Alden took out a $50,000 loan in order to study science at Pennsylvania State University. She attended the college between 2006 and 2009 before then studying for a master’s degree in engineering management at Rowan University in New Jersey.
While Alden is known now for her expertise in finance, she did not switch her career to focus on investment until working for more than a decade in the aviation industry as an electrical engineer.
After 12 years in aviation, she made a decision to completely switch direction and start her own firm in her name. Setting up Lyn Alden Investment Strategy in 2016 she provided advice to clients on investments and started increasingly focusing her research on cryptocurrency from 2020 onwards.
As well as her tailored advice, Alden also sends out a number of finance newsletters every week. While some of these are free to read, many are only available to subscribers.
Alden also regularly features on video channels and podcasts to provide her insights. She regularly tweets about the state of the markets.
Alden credits her tough childhood – which she describes as her “scrappy beginnings” – for the success of her investment firm.
She believes that her newsletters and explainers on investment are more accessible than most and written in easy-to-understand English.
“I don’t come off like I’m speaking down to people or that I’m out of touch,” she said in an interview with American podcaster Brian Rose.
“A stereotype of finance is that people are out of touch. And it’s partially true, not everybody, but it’s a somewhat out-of-touch industry.”

Lyn Alden Schwartzer admits that she is a “workaholic” and “not as social as I shroud be”.
She said in 2021 “I tend to prioritise work over relationships.
“I tend to get self-absorbed in my work and not show enough appreciation for the wonderful accomplishments, interests and activities of loved ones in my life.
“It’s something I consciously try to improve, and I do think I’ve gotten better at it over time, but it’s a challenge for me.”
However, despite admitting that she is too absorbed in work to socialise, Alden does have a husband.
While her husband’s identity is not publicly known, he is thought to be a Muslim of Egyptian heritage.
The pair got married in 2018 in what has been described as a small family ceremony, rather than a large celebration.
