Mike Thurston was born in Leeds, England in 1990.

Thurston went to the University of Newcastle where he studied Economics and Business Management.

He first fell in love with weight lifting during his first year at university – aged 18.

After graduating in 2011, aged 21, Thurston moved to Spain where he worked as a nightclub promoter.

He adopted an unhealthy lifestyle and didn’t take his physique seriously until 2012.

Thurston documented his transition from party animal to health guru on his YouTube channel which now boasts north of 1.5 million followers.

After returning from Spain, he started working in retail but eventually made the leap of faith in 2013 and became a fully qualified personal trainer.

In 2013, Thurston founded Aurora Athletics, a personal training business.

Aurora Athletics started to take off in 2014 when Thurston started to use Instagram to promote his services.

In 2016, Thurston then founded THRST – a platform that offers specialized training programs and video instruction.

In 2019, he then moved into the activewear space, with his brand THRST, selling shorts and shirts for athletes.

In 2021, Thurston launched the THRST fitness app. Thurston says: “I want to help guys like you build the kind of presence that gets noticed when you walk in the room. That begins by building your body.”

In 2023, Thurston also launched a podcast called First Things THRST.
