Who is Tam Khan?
Tam Khan was born in London, England in 1982 to Afghan parents who moved to the UK in 1979.
The Khan’s relocated to Essex while Tam was growing up and he ended up going to Middlesex University to study business management.
After leaving university, he dedicated his life to MMA, and at the time was only making £100 per fight.
He said: “I’d fight at shows which were in school halls and had to work part-time in retail.
“I became an area manager at Carphone Warehouse,” before quitting to pursue MMA full-time.

In 2005, he went to Dubai on holiday with friends and fell in love with the city.
He returned a year later in 2006 but had a big fight coming up and found there was nowhere to train in the UAE.
At the time, MMA and the UFC were growing rapidly, and Dubai wasn’t catching on which Khan saw as an opportunity and set about to build the first fighting and combat sports gym in the Middle East.
In 2008 he moved to Dubai and never came back.
He started out by doing 1-1 sessions in a hall he had hired out, trying to teach people about MMA and UFC.
Then, a journalist visited from the UK and wrote an article about him.
It had his mobile number on the article and “the next day it went from 0-100,” Khan said.
He opened his first MMA gym in 2010 called TKMMAFIT, which at the time was the first one in the UAE.
Khan said: “I became the go-to gym in UAE for MMA.”
He continued to go from strength to strength and moved to a bigger gym in 2006, which was 50,000 square feet and had state-of-the-art facilities including a swimming pool.
Amir Khan, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Tyson Fury and Floyd Mayweather are all regular faces at the gym when they’re in the UAE.
Khan said: “If you work hard in these early years, you can relax for the rest.”
Khan has since founded TK Fight Night and DXB Fight – a celebrity and influencer boxing events firm based in Dubai.
TK Fight Night was the organiser of Social Knockout, which saw MoneyKicks fight Ajmal Khan.
Khan also founded My Celeb PT in 2020 – an app which helped thousands of users maintain their mental and physical health during the pandemic.
Khan also landed a role in Jackie Chan’s movie Vanguard.
