He played for the Bearcats from 2008 to 2012. In that time, he missed one year of game time in 2010 due to failing a drug test. Kelce tested positive for marijuana and was forced to sit the season out.

After finishing college, Kelce was drafted into the NFL in 2013. He was picked up by the Kansas City Chiefs in the third round. He joined the site on a four-year deal for $3.12 million.
He re-signed for the team on a five year extension contract in 2016 and then again on a further four year extension in 2020.
