Kali Muscle stopped using steroids after having a heart attack in 2021

Kali Muscle turned his life around after spending 11 years behind bars.

But what is the story behind the fitness entrepreneur and what is his net worth?

Who is Kali Muscle?

Kali Muscle, real name Chuck Kirkenhall, was born in 1975 in Oakland, California, US.

Kali grew up in poverty and claimed his stepdad made him feel like an outcast in the family – treating him differently from his siblings.

During his teens, he fell in love with working out and started working in a 24-hour Nautilus, which was later renamed 24 Hour Fitness, at the age of 16.

He ended up landing a scholarship at Fresno State University but following the tragic death of his brother, he turned to a life of crime.

During his second year, he was arrested for robbery and found guilty – being sentenced to 11 years in prison.

He was sent to San Quentin State Prison.

Despite limited equipment and a poor diet, he continued to work out and managed to bulk up – at one point he weighed 230lb of almost pure muscle.

In 1997, San Quentin State Prison removed the weights when inmates started using them as weapons.

But he improvised and started using whatever he could including garbage bags, water bottles and even fellow inmates.

Kali was released in 2010 and set about changing his life.

He relocated to Los Angeles and landed a part in a music video for Jamey Johnson.

He continued to keep his head down and picked up more on-screen appearances, mainly commercials for brands including Snickers, Comcast and Honda.

His physique went from strength to strength and in 2012 he won Mr California.

Kali then turned to social media and started posting content on YouTube about bodybuilding and training with limited equipment.

To date, he has amassed over 3 million subscribers.

He has monetised his online following through his supplement company Hyphy Mud.

Kali has been open about his use of steroids and in 2021, suffered a heart attack thanks to a clogged left artery.

He now uses his platform to advocate for a healthy lifestyle on social media.

What is Kali Muscle’s net worth?

Kali Muscle has a net worth of $5 million.

Kali makes around $230,000 per year from YouTube advertisements.

But he makes the majority of his money from his supplement brand Hyphy Mud.
