Dele Alli is a professional footballer who currently plays for Everton

Dele Alli is a professional footballer who currently plays for Everton after stints at Tottenham, MK Dons and Besiktas in Turkey.

But what is the story behind Dele and what is his net worth?

Who is Dele Alli?

Dele Alli was born in 1996 in Milton Keynes, England and joined the MK Dons academy aged 11.

Dele’s father moved to the US just a week after his birth, leaving his mother to care for him.

Dele’s mother struggled with alcoholism so at the age of nine, he moved to Nigeria with his father, where he spent two years in an international school.

At 13, Dele moved into Alan and Sally Hickford’s home who were the parents of another footballer from MK Dons’ youth team.

Dele refers to the Hickfords as his “adoptive parents”, but he was never legally adopted by them.

Speaking about his childhood, Dele said: “When I was six I was molested by mum’s friend… because my mum was an alcoholic. That happened at six.

“And then I was sent to Africa to learn discipline and then I was sent back.

“At seven I started smoking and then at eight, I started selling drugs.

“An older person told me they wouldn’t stop a kid on a bike so I’d ride around with my football and underneath I’d have drugs.

“At 11 I was hung off a bridge by a guy from the next estate. A man.”

At the age of just 16, he played first-team football and made 88 appearances over two seasons, scoring 24 goals.

In February 2015, he signed for Tottenham Hotspur for £5 million but was loaned back to MK Dons for the remainder of the season.

On 8 August 2015, Dele made his Tottenham debut against Manchester United in the Premier League.

In 2016, he changed his shirt name to Dele, saying he had “no connection” to his legal surname.

Dele said: “I wanted a name on my shirt that represented who I am and I feel I have no connection with the Alli surname.

“This is not a decision I have taken without a lot of thought and discussion with family close to me.”

During his first two seasons at Spurs, he was voted the PFA Young Player of the Year and made the PFA Team of the Year.

Alli was also selected for England’s UEFA Euro 2016 team and the 2018 FIFA World Cup team, helping the Three Lions reach the semi-finals.

In January 2022 he joined Everton before spending time at Beşiktaş in Turkey on loan.

What is Dele Alli’s net worth?

Dele Alli has a net worth of $20 million.
